September 4, 2018 – Current CEO, Doug Stratton, will retire at the end of this year. Dr. Patrick McGill will become CEO, effective December 1. Dr. McGill and Doug will work closely together throughout the month of December to ensure a smooth transition.
Doug has led Primaria since its inception in 2015. Primaria represents a bold new model of healthcare delivery designed to tie payment for health care services to the quality of care provided, rewarding providers for both efficiency and effectiveness.
Under Doug’s guidance, Primaria has focused on providing primary care physicians within Community Health Network, as well as independent providers, with the innovative solutions to care for critically ill, complex patients. The results are encouraging. Since early 2016, Primaria has reduced unnecessary medical costs by $31.7 million.
Primaria caps what has been a long and distinguished career for Doug. He previously served as the Executive Director for Indiana’s State High risk program, and assisted in the development of the Healthy Indiana Program and HIP 2.0 programs for Medicaid. He also chairs the Foundation for Complex Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a not for profit organization, dedicated to the design and implementation of better healthcare solutions for patients with catastrophic, chronic, and complex conditions.
Dr. Patrick McGill is a highly regarded family medicine physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine who joined Community Health Network in 2010. A Georgia native, Dr. McGill received a degree from the University of Georgia and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. McGill brings a systems approach to health care and is passionate about improving quality outcomes. Most recently, as the SVP Clinical Strategy, he has led the Performance Excellence team with the Outcomes & Performance Managers to develop a common approach to improvement and, has made great strides in reducing unnecessary clinical variation across CHNw. In addition to serving as the CEO of Primaria, Dr. McGill will continue to practice medicine one day a week.
